Laurie Myers is the founder and Managing Director of Advocacy and Prevention Partners (APP) Consulting, bringing more than 30 years of leadership in victim advocacy, child protection, public safety policy, and criminal justice systems. Throughout her career, she has worked to  strengthen victim services, improve cross-agency collaboration, and develop practical solutions that better protect vulnerable populations.

Laurie's advocacy career began in 1992 as a rape crisis counselor serving a community with a large college student population. Working directly with survivors of sexual violence shaped her lifelong commitment to ensuring victims are heard, protected, and treated with dignity.

In 2004, she founded Community VOICES, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the right's of victims, child protection through education, public policy, prevention, and community engagement. During the next decade, she helped advance significant legislative reforms in Massachusetts, including extending the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse, requiring sex offenders to be classified before release from prison, supporting the passage of Jessica's Law, and contributing to the Commonwealth's first human trafficking law.

Recognizing the need for compassionate, trauma-informed support throughout the criminal justice process, Laurie founded Dogs Making a Difference, the first Massachusetts program to pair service-trained facility dogs with victims and survivors of crime.  Alongside her facility dog, Wena, Laurie supported victims during some of the Commonwealth's most difficult moments, including providing comfort to survivors hospitalized following the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The program also educated professionals on the value of facility dogs in victim-centered and healing-focused responses.

In 2015,  Ms. Myers was hired as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, Laurie led major initiatives to improve public safety through technology, policy, and collaboration. She strengthened notification systems, expanded prevention resources, modernized public information, and secured grant funding to create the Electronic Sex Offender Registry Information Portal.  She also directed major digitization and secure data-sharing initiatives that improved information sharing among state agencies, law enforcement, and multidisciplinary partners. These efforts increased efficiency, enhanced public access to information, and strengthened coordinated responses to protect vulnerable populations.

Today, Laurie brings together more than three decades of experience through Advocacy and Prevention Partners(APP) Consulting. APP helps organizations strengthen victim-centered practices, improve cross-agency collaboration, develop effective public safety strategies, and build systems that better serve victims, professionals, and communities.
